As a free service to credit union members, we now offer financial counseling and debt management through an organization called BALANCE. There is no charge (except for the cost of a credit report, if needed). Please see the credit union for further information.

When joining the credit union, members pay a one-time entrance fee of $1.00 and must maintain a regular share account of at least $25.00. Dividends are paid monthly at a rate determined each month by the credit union board, with a minimum amount necessary to earn such dividends. See "Share rates" Savings Rates for details about rates on share accounts.

Share Certificates (similar to CDs offered by banks) are available at a dividend rate FIXED FOR THE TERM OF THE CERTIFICATE. The dividends are paid MONTHLY and may remain in the certificate OR may be withdrawn, without penalty, at any time prior to the maturity of the certificate. Terms are available from 6 months to 4 years, with rates set according to the amount of the certificate and the term. Members may select an exact date of maturity between 6 months and 3 years if they wish to have the money on a specific date. There is a penalty if the funds are withdrawn prior to the maturity date. See "Share Rates"  Savings Rates for rates, terms and minimum amounts being currently offered.

If your employer will send payroll deductions by direct deposit (Electronic Funds Transfer), the credit union can receive these deductions and apply the amount you request to shares, club accounts, loans to you or a family member, etc. To initiate this deduction, provide your payroll department the name and address of the credit union, your account number, specify "SAVINGS", and give the credit union Routing and Transit Number (RTN), 256078459 .

This capability is available for federal employees, military members and an increasing number of other employers.

The same method can be used to have your Federal Income tax refund sent directly to your account.

Employees of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, and employees of the Queen of Peace Early learning Center may request deductions to the credit union.

Please contact the credit union for additional information.

If your employer does not offer this service, the credit union can have loan payments and/or savings deposits transferred from your checking account at a bank or other credit union. Contact the credit union for more details.

The credit union is now offering a prepaid, reloadable Mastercard debit card to members. There will be a one time fee of $5.00 to purchase the card, and the card will be reloadable from the member's savings account at the credit union, or by having an employer do a direct deposit or payroll deduction to the card. The card may be used at ATMs for cash withdrawals for a modest fee, and may also be used at merchants accepting Mastercard. This card may also be used outside the US as well. Click HERE for more information on the DebitPass Card

Please contact the credit union if you are interested in getting a prepaid debit card for yourself, or for a family member.

You may have money for loan payments and/or savings deposits transferred (at no charge) from an account at another financial institution (credit union or bank) to your account at the Queen of Peace Arlington FCU. You may choose transfers on the 1st, 8th, 18th or 28th of each month. You may also choose to have funds transferred every other Friday (either cycle) or every Friday.

To initiate these transfers, stop by the credit union and fill out a request and authorization form.

When a loan is disbursed, the borrower may purchase disability insurance that will make the loan payments (after 30 days or more of disability). The price is reasonable and is based on the amount and term of the loan. There are some exclusions, such as pre-existing conditions within 6 months, normal pregnancy, etc.

Borrowers are also able to purchase life insurance on the primary borrower or both joint owners on a loan. This life insurance could protect your loved ones in the event of your death while the loan is outstanding. There are certain restrictions and age limits.

Contact the credit union for more information.

Some people who have an urgent need for a few hundred dollars turn to "Payday" lenders, who may charge an annual rate of 500% (or more) for a loan of just a few weeks.

The credit union now offers an alternative to payday lending at a fraction of the cost. See the Loan Rates page for more details.

Through a referral agreement, Credit Union members may apply for mortgage loans with Credit Union Morgtgage Association (CUMA) in Fairfax Virginia. CUMA is owned by a group of larger credit unions.
