See web site for complete schedule. Effective July 18, 2010 the interest rates on all vehicle loans are reduced by 1.00 percentage points. The rate depends on the age of the vehicle, the term (number of months) of the loan and the applicant's credit score. A three year loan on a new vehicle would have a rate as low as 3.50% (Annual Percentage Rate)

We now offer VISA Gift Cards for sale to members. The cards can be loaded with amounts between $10 and $500, and the purchase fee is only $3 plus the value put on the card. These cards are not reloadable.

We continue to offer the RELOADABLE Mastercard Prepaid debit cards as well.

See us for all the details.

Dear Credit Union Member:

In the midst of ongoing reporting of many of the difficulties some financial institutions are having in today's troubled economy, you may have recently read or heard of the decision by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) to place into conservatorship two wholesale corporate credit unions, US Central Federal Credit Union and Western Corporate Credit Union. We want to assure you that these actions do not impact you as a member of Queen of Peace Arlington Federal Credit Union. Our credit union remains safe, sound and strong.

The two institutions that were placed into conservatorship are corporate credit unions. Corporate credit unions do not serve consumers. They are chartered to provide products and services only to the credit union system. These products and services will continue uninterrupted. There is no impact on any of the 90 million credit union members nationwide or to the members of Queen of Peace Arlington Federal Credit Union.

Credit unions remain extremely strong, even during these challenging economic times. Nationwide, credit union net worth is at near all time highs. Of more importance to you, Queen of Peace Arlington FCU has over $235,000 in net worth and every depositor is insured by the full faith and credit of the US Government through the NCUA insurance fund to a maximum of $250,000.

Our commitment is first and foremost to you -- our members. It is because of our member commitment that we always strive to give you the best in member service and be the safest of credit unions. Regardless of difficulties some other institutions may have, Queen of Peace Arlington FCU is safe, sound, strong and well positioned to meet your family's financial needs today, tomorrow and well into the future.

As Treasurer/CEO of the Queen of Peace Arlington Federal Credit Union, I can state unequivocally that the credit union’s financial condition has never been stronger. We have over $235,000 in reserves (net worth, or net capital), which is about double the amount needed to be classified as "Well Capitalized" by our Federal Government regulator, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Our net income (net earnings) continues to be strong as well. We have suffered no investment losses on the sorts of investments that have been making the headlines in recent weeks and months. Our monthly financial statements are posted in the credit union office, as well as on our web site, www.qpafcu.com. We will be happy to provide a copy to you upon request.

We are regularly examined by the NCUA, as well as having annual audits by our Supervisory Committee (Chairman, Dick Melia). Member savings are federally insured by NCUA up to $250,000 per member account. The NCUA Insurance Fund, which backs our member savings, has the same federal government guarantee (full faith and credit) as the FDIC does for banks and thrifts. You can independently verify NCUA Insurance at the NCUA web site www.ncua.gov.

We continue to pay fair and competitive rates on savings to our members. We also have funds available for consumer loans (personal, share-secured, new and used auto) to qualified members. We have no "liquidity crisis" at the credit union.

Should you have any questions at all about the credit union, NCUA federal insurance, etc. please feel free to contact me (or any credit union official) at the above phone number and email address.

Thank you very much for your support of the credit union over the years.

Daniel G Morrisey, Treasurer/CEO

We recently switched our web hosting to a different vendor, with a very different look.

We have just about everything now moved to this new web site.

Suggestions, comments and offers to help are welcome. See Treasurer Dan Morrisey.

This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.

Credit Union growth, as well as the increasing complexity of operating a credit union, means we need more volunteers to operate the credit union.

Listed below are three, specific needs we have. If you are a credit union member, consider becoming a volunteer. If you are in the credit union field of membership, consider joining the credit union and becoming a volunteer.

  • Tellers - Staff the credit union office once or twice a month, on a scheduled basis. Handle member payments, deposits, withdrawals. Assist making bank deposits, balancing daily work, answer member questions about services, help new members join, give information about loans, etc.
  • Membership Advisory Committee - This is a new committee, just being formed. This would be one quarterly meeting, and one activity per quarter (such as attending a board meeting). We expect this committee will give a fresh view about credit union products and services, as well as learn about the various aspects of the credit union. After learning about the credit union services and operation, members may choose to be on other committees, or do other duties.
  • Account Reconcilement - As highly government regulated instutions, we are regularly audited and examined by government examiners, as well as our own internal audits. We need a person to spend an hour or two a month doing an independent verification of the credit union's deposits and investments, and that the correct numbers show on our financial reports. There may be an occasional meeting every few months as well.
  • Please contact Treasurer Dan Morrisey at the credit union about which of the above volunteer positions you are willing to do.
  • Most of these volunteer positions can be done by High School teens. In some cases, also, two volunteers could work together, or alternate duties.

On Saurday, May 22, 2004, NCUA Board Chairman JoAnn Johnson made a visit to the Queen of Peace Arlington FCU. She came by to visit a "Train the Trainer" Financial Literacy for low and moderate income adults being given by the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions for about 18 credit union folks from area credit unions being conducted in the Ministry Center Meeting Room. Credit Union Board Members Dick Melia (also Supervisory Committee Chairman) and Dan Morrisey (Credit Union Treasurer) gave Mrs. Johnson a "tour" of our credit union, pointing out the services we provide, that we are all-volunteer, characteristics of our membership and that we are marking our 40th year since being chartered in 1964. The NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) is the federal agency that regulates federal credit unions, as well as being responsible for the federal share insurance fund.
